Ron has a rich and varied legal background where he is licensed to practice in all State Courts in the State of Ohio and is admitted to the federal court in the Northern District of Ohio as well as the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals.
He began his practice in 1989 representing consumer debtors in Chapter 7 and 13 proceedings. His litigation experience began with criminal and domestic relations matters where he has represented individuals from Cuyahoga, Lake, Medina, Portage, Stark and Summit Counties.
Since that time, Ron has worked as an Attorney at Hyatt Legal Services, where he further developed his consumer Bankruptcy practice and sharpened his litigation skills. At that time, Ron was sworn into the 6th Circuit Federal Court of Appeals co-representing an individual in a federal Habeus Corpus claim.
Ron remained with the successors to Hyatt Legal Services and was involved in numerous trials, both jury and bench, as well as having successfully argued and practiced in the Court of Appeals, Ninth District.
Ron has both small firm direct involvement and large firm experience at Jones Day where he worked as a staff attorney in their Chapter 11 Business Restructuring and Reorganization Department. There, he learned to work in a team atmosphere in representing international and domestic Fortune 500 Companies.
Ron joined Amourgis and Associates first in 2006 again representing individuals in various areas of family law, and expanding his representation of debtor representation in consumer bankruptcy matters to include bankruptcy litigation and the prosecution of adversary proceedings.
After exploring other legal opportunities, Ron re-joined Amourgis and Associates in 2012 and has continued to lend his experience in civil litigation, Appellate representation and argument, civil and criminal trials, and most recently, to the growth of the Firm’s Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 consumer bankruptcy debtor representation.
