How Will the Coronavirus Impact My Case?

With the world on hold as the COVID-19 pandemic still looms, many businesses have been shut down or closed temporarily. Fortunately, Amourgis & Associates is able to remain open as an essential business to serve our clients in these unprecedented times. Before any of us even knew what the coronavirus was, we have been taking the proper steps to ensure that our clients can reach us in many different ways and that our office is equipped to serve you in the digital age.

Virtual Consultations

In todays world, work is conducted from home for the most part. As a law practice, we are considered to be an essential business and so even from a distance, are able to help you with your case. From nursing home neglect as a result of coronavirus to finding yourself in financial hardship from losing your job and considering bankruptcy- Amourgis & Associates is here to help. Our attorneys and staff are able to handle everything we could before- just at a distance. This helps to keep us all safe and also helps our clients get their cases handled despite the shelter-in-place orders.

If you need a consultation, we are here to assist you. We can handle consultations over the phone or in a virtual meeting space like Zoom. Contact our office today to set up a time to talk about your case. We are contenting to take new cases, as well. Just because we are confined to our homes, doesn’t mean we still don’t need legal representation. Financial hardships do still occur, as do accidents at home or as a result of something else. Let us help you get through this time.

Are the Courts Still Open?

Depending on what kind of case you have- Bankruptcy or Personal Injury– you may have had your court day postponed. The Courts are closed temporarily until further notice. If you have had a court date on the docket, it will be rescheduled when the Courts have reopened. Keep in mind that they will be backlogged and your case will eventually get heard. It just may take a little time. We will keep you updated on how to proceed with your case. Just contact your attorney and we will answer any of your questions on your court date.

Personal Injury cases may still be heard at Court. Judges are still hearing and deciding on cases. Motions for a continuance or extension will receive consideration, depending on the situation.
